Need a new Chevrolet key?
Silverado and Equinox jobs show up more than sports cars in this area. Chevrolet is a GM brand; that does not mean we can quote from the bowtie alone. Year, model, and whether a key still works come first.
Examples people ask about
- Silverado
- Equinox
- Malibu
- Tahoe
- Traverse
Examples include Silverado, Equinox, Malibu, Tahoe and Traverse. Support is not universal across those names.
Chevrolet situations
- Silverado with no spare and a weekday that cannot wait on a dealer lot
- Equinox fob that stopped unlocking
- Malibu key worn down or snapped
- Tahoe / Traverse family vehicle with all fobs missing
- Keys locked in a Chevy in a store lot
Chevy keys in plain language
Many Chevrolets use a transponder key or a fob the truck recognizes. Later Silverados and SUVs are often push-to-start. We will not list GM module names or frequencies here.
Chip key
Turns the ignition; electronics still have to match the vehicle.
Key fob / remote
May be separate from the blade on some years, combined on others.
Proximity / push-to-start
Common on later trucks and crossovers. Confirm the year.
Confirming a Chevrolet
Say Chevrolet (or Chevy), the model — Silverado vs Equinox is not interchangeable — the year, and working-key status. Support depends on the exact year, model and key system.
Spare vs stranded
A second Chevy key while the truck still starts is the lighter job. No working fob on a push-button Silverado is origination. Do not describe a silent truck as “need a copy.”
Push-button Chevrolets
If you press a button on the dash, say so. That is a smart-key path, not a hardware-store blade.
Newer Chevrolet vehicles
Some newer Chevrolets need different tools or options. We will not claim every recent GM product. Confirm first.
Where we come to you
Mobile in Stockton, Manteca, Lathrop, Tracy and French Camp. Not a Chevrolet dealer; not a GMC page either — use GMC in the quote if that is the badge.
Worth saying plainly
GMC Sierra is not automatically a Silverado key. Pick the badge you actually have in Get a Price.
We do not publish Chevrolet FCC IDs. If a listing asks you to match one, send us the vehicle first.
Vehicle brand names describe compatibility only. Local Car Key is not affiliated with, authorized by, or a partner of Toyota, Honda, Ford, Chevrolet, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Subaru, Lexus, Acura, Jeep, or any other vehicle manufacturer.
