Need a Nissan key or Intelligent Key fob?
Nissan owners often say Intelligent Key when they mean a fob the car notices in a pocket. Altima, Sentra and Rogue are the usual names. We still need the year — Intelligent Key is a customer nickname, not a promise that every Nissan uses the same part.
Examples people ask about
- Altima
- Sentra
- Rogue
- Pathfinder
- Frontier
Examples include Altima, Sentra, Rogue, Pathfinder and Frontier. Exact support depends on year and key system.
Nissan-specific customer language
- Lost the Intelligent Key and the Altima will not power up
- Sentra still has a metal key but the remote died
- Rogue with no spare for a second driver
- Frontier work truck, only key gone
- Nissan locked with the fob inside
Nissan keys you might be holding
Some Nissans still use a key you turn. Many Altimas and Rogues from later years are proximity. Nissan’s “Intelligent Key” label is useful in a text message; it is not a spec sheet. We will not document how that system is coded.
Traditional / transponder
Still around on some Sentras and trucks.
Intelligent Key / proximity fob
Pocket fob. Often paired with a push button.
Separate door remote
On some years the unlock remote is not the same piece as the ignition key.
What to send
Nissan, model (Rogue vs Altima), year, whether the fob still does anything, and if the car is push-button. Support depends on the exact year, model and key system.
Second Intelligent Key vs none
If one Nissan fob still starts the car, you want a spare. If the dash is dead because every fob is gone, that is all keys lost. A valet key in a glove box counts as a working key if it actually starts the car — say if you have one.
Push-button Nissans
Rogue and Altima push-button cars are common. If you still insert a key, say that so we do not assume a proximity fob.
Newer Nissan vehicles
Some newer Nissans require different tools or options. Confirm year and model. No “all Nissans” claim.
Where we come to you
We come to the Nissan in the five-city service area. Not affiliated with Nissan.
Worth saying plainly
Infiniti is Nissan luxury. If the badge is Infiniti, say Infiniti in the quote — it is on the make list even without its own SEO page yet.
Used Intelligent Key fobs are a maybe, not a yes. Confirm the vehicle before you buy one.
Vehicle brand names describe compatibility only. Local Car Key is not affiliated with, authorized by, or a partner of Toyota, Honda, Ford, Chevrolet, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Subaru, Lexus, Acura, Jeep, or any other vehicle manufacturer.
