Need a replacement key or fob for your Ford?
F-150 keys and Escape fobs are not the same conversation, even though both say Ford. Tell us the year and whether this is a truck you turn a key in, or an Explorer you start with a button.
Examples people ask about
- F-150
- Escape
- Explorer
- Fusion
- Mustang
Customers often ask about F-150, Escape, Explorer, Fusion and Mustang. That list is orientation, not a coverage catalog.
Ford calls in this area
- F-150 with the only key gone — often a work truck that has to move
- Escape or Explorer fob missing
- Mustang key that still turns but will not start
- Spare requested so two drivers are not sharing one Ford key
- Keys locked in a Super Crew cab in a job-site lot
What a Ford key might be
Plenty of Fords still use a blade you turn, often with a chip in the head. Many Escapes and Explorers from later years are push-button. We will not name Ford’s internal anti-theft system on this page or tell you how it is programmed.
Transponder / chip key
Common on trucks and older cars. Cutting metal is only part of the job.
Remote-head or integrated key
Buttons on the key head for lock and unlock.
Intelligent Access / push-button fob
Customer language for a fob the Ford notices nearby. Confirm the year.
What to send for a Ford
F-150 vs Escape vs Explorer changes the starting point. Year, working key, and start type still decide whether we can help. Support depends on the exact year, model and key system.
One Ford key vs zero
Work trucks often run on a single key until it disappears. If it still works, get the spare now. If the F-150 is silent, that is all keys lost — bring proof it is your truck.
Push-button Fords
Later Explorers and Escapes are frequently push-to-start. A Mustang may still be a keyed ignition depending on year. Do not assume “Ford” means one fob shape.
Newer Ford vehicles
Some newer Fords require different tools or options. Confirm the year and model. No blanket “all Fords through 2026.”
Where we come to you
We meet the Ford in Stockton, Manteca, Lathrop, Tracy or French Camp. Driveways and job lots are normal. No Ford dealer affiliation.
Worth saying plainly
Lincoln is not on this page. If it is a Lincoln, say that in the message — do not pick Ford to make the form easier.
A used F-150 fob from a listing is not automatically programmable to your truck.
Vehicle brand names describe compatibility only. Local Car Key is not affiliated with, authorized by, or a partner of Toyota, Honda, Ford, Chevrolet, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Subaru, Lexus, Acura, Jeep, or any other vehicle manufacturer.
