Need a key for your Hyundai?
Elantra, Tucson and Santa Fe are the Hyundais we are asked about most around here. Hyundai and Kia share some design language; they do not automatically share a key. Send the Hyundai year and model, not a Kia listing photo.
Examples people ask about
- Elantra
- Sonata
- Tucson
- Santa Fe
- Palisade
Examples include Elantra, Sonata, Tucson, Santa Fe and Palisade. Support still depends on year and key system.
Hyundai jobs that are actually different
- Tucson fob that will not unlock after a battery you already replaced
- Elantra with no spare for a new commuter
- Santa Fe / Palisade family SUV, all keys lost
- Sonata push-button, fob gone
- Hyundai locked at a shopping center
Hyundai key types (customer view)
You may have a folding key, a fob, or a push-button proximity unit. Folding vs proximity is not something we will guess from “it’s a Hyundai.”
Folding / flip key
Blade folds into the head on some years. Still often a transponder.
Fob
Unlock and alarm. May or may not start a push-button car.
Proximity / push-to-start
Later Tucson and Santa Fe trims often use this. Confirm the year.
Confirming Hyundai support
Hyundai, exact model, year, working key, start type. Support depends on the exact year, model and key system. We do not keep a public table of Hyundai FCC IDs.
Spare Hyundai vs all fobs gone
If the Tucson still starts, add a spare. If the Palisade will not wake up, that is all keys lost. A “wallet key” only counts if it actually runs the car.
Hyundai push-to-start
Palisade and later Santa Fe / Tucson buyers often have a button on the dash. Say push-button in the first message if that is you.
Newer Hyundai vehicles
Some newer Hyundais need different tools or options. We will not claim every recent Hyundai. Confirm first.
Where we come to you
Mobile service across the five cities. Not a Hyundai dealership and not a Kia store.
Worth saying plainly
If the car is a Kia, use the Kia page. Sharing a corporate group does not make the fob interchangeable.
Aftermarket Hyundai fobs are only useful when they actually match the car. Confirm before you click buy.
Vehicle brand names describe compatibility only. Local Car Key is not affiliated with, authorized by, or a partner of Toyota, Honda, Ford, Chevrolet, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Subaru, Lexus, Acura, Jeep, or any other vehicle manufacturer.
